We stayed at the Rio for two nights and the last night of the week in Northern Portugal. The hotel, whilst not in the city centre, is an easy and direct ten minute walk and is on a quiet street, surrounded by local churresquerias and homes. We recently spent one night at the Residencial Grande Rio and at 37 euros per double found it to be good value. This small hotel is a 10 to 15 minute walk to the north of the city centre. It was clean and the staff friendly. The owmer/manageress was obliging and cooked an alternative breakfast for the members of our... more
