I would rate this place a 2 star hotel & feel that at nearly $190(the rate we got) for the night at least $50 to much. The hotel has a lot of potential for a renovation & is right in the city center but that also means drug dealers & a few beggars outside the hotel doors. The breakfast was... more

The Metropole is in an unrivalled location right on Rossio. We took the airport bus to the stop right outside the hotel. We had a nice room at the corner of the building overlooking the square. The room was spacious, perhaps its corner location made it a little bit larger than some. There was a bit of traffic noise from... more

The first night I was ready to move to another hotel. We had a tiny room in the back of the hotel. The furniture is shabby looking and there is not comfortable seating, so you end up sitting on the bed. There was a parade that was unbelievably loud. The window looks right into someone's apartment, so we kept the... more

We arrived at the Metropole exhausted and looking bedraggled. Unfortunately, we were 5 hours early for check-in. They were kind enough to offer us a room immediately (unfortunately, the bed was too small). Within 1 1/2 hours they gave us a choice of two rooms, one overlooking the Rossio and another facing the rear of the hotel. The one with... more

This is a very lovely hotel with an excellent central location. Staying here, you are within a few minutes of walking distance to most neighborhoods of interest to tourists or public transportation (tram, bus, metro). The rooms are clean, the bathrooms quite large for a european hotel. My room, facing the back street, had a small balcony with french doors... more

We got the last available room which overlooked the square, and you can see the castle on the hill from the room as well. The hotel staff spoke English quite well and they were knowledgeable and went out of their way to help us. The hotel is in the centermost part of Lisbon. There are restaurants right outside of the... more

Chose this hotel on recommendations from trip advisor. We requested a room overlooking the square - good views but very noisy at night. Nice large room, good bathroom and very clean. The hotel is in an ideal location. Great public transport. Best day trip was to Sintra - train every 10 minutes or so at Rossio station which is a... more

Lovely hotel. Staff very friendly and a great breakfast. We were really pleased that the airport bus stopped right outside the hotel (see http://www.carris.pt/en/horarios/a091_2.pdf ) - the bus was cheap and left the square every 20 minutes. Tucked away beside 2 cafes, this little hotel (with its dated décor) really was a fantastic base for a weekends sightseeing around Lisbon.... more

Great location! Dated, small , clean rooms. Needs updating with new carpets, etc ... has potential to be very charming. Nice and attentive staff. Good hot breakfast .. Guests gather in the common room which is nice . Free use of computer and wifi. Would stay here again for ease of location but think they should update the hotel. more

Good cafe next door and smart restaurant next to that. Obviously can be noisy but so what, get up and get out! Much better than many posher places way back towards the airport. Oh yes, the airport... more
