I have never in my life came across such IGNORANT STAFF. They must really hate their job. The bar staff were in particular the rudest. I met alot of people in the bar that night who complained about them. We left the bar early as we were nearly afraid to ask for another drink! The staff who manned the carvery... more

This hotel is in a very central location and the reception area is fine But it smells of the most awful musty/urine smell and the room had stains on the carpet and the same smell.I would not recommend this hotel at all. more

I have nothing but praise for the staff and the outstanding customer service they provided during our stay at the Royal Dublin. Parts of the hotel may be 'a little tired' in estate agent jargon but that was insignificant in the overall scheme of things. I took my husband for his 50th birthday and we were joined by a group... more

Although the staff were quite polite the room itself was not very good! I think the worst bit has to be the fact that the lovely brown/beige curtains don't even reach the bottom of the window meaning that sunlight comes blazing through right in your eyes of a morning. I thought I would cut them some slack with the shrunken... more

This is a nice hotel, as long as you request a room in the remodeled section. I originally was given a room (301) A skeleton key opened to door. to a small scary room. No tub, only a shower less inviting than some of the hostels I have stayed in.. The staff was very helpful when I requested a room... more

My wife and I have had the pleasure of staying 3 times in "The Royal Dublin" hotel situated on O,Connell St. On our first visit to Dublin in 2004 we stayed in "The Gresham" just over the street from the Royal Dublin. So on our next visit we tried to book into the Gresham again but they were fully booked,... more

I've stayed in this hotel 3 times while in Dublin, i like it mostly because of its location. The first 2 times I stayed here, i hated the rooms I was given, they were cold and out-dated looking, smelled of smoke and had what looked like spots of mold. On a more recent trip I got a room at the... more

We recently stayed overnight at this hotel and having seen photos on web pages were looking forward to staying but were greatly disappointed. The reception area looks elegant but the reception staff were extremely frosty and unhelpful. On getting out of the lift there was a horrible musty smell. Our room was awful, it was dated and tatty, it smelt... more

having only a two night stay and a surprise one for a son and fiancee plus myself and wife I trawled the web, discounting hotels beyond a couple of minutes walk from O"Connell St and any that promised a built in night club! Reviews counted, price important but not a deal breaker..anyway a great reduced rate via a main web... more

We have now stayed at the Royal Dublin a number of times, when we first stayed there the hotel was in the midst of(& certainly in need of) a large renovation process. Even though the rooms were 'tired' & dated at first they were always clean & comfortable, the last few stays have seen us in nice 'sparkling' new rooms, very smart. The... more
