The Marks has an interesting challenge - it wants to be up there with the Malmaison but does not know how to get there. Sure, the reception is done a la Mal in black, with dummy champagne bottles displayed but the staff lack the charisma needed to carry it off. Going up to the room you can't help but notice... more

My daughter and I stayed at the Marks Hotel for a theatre/shopping trip to Glasgow. The location was perfect - in easy walking distance of main shopping areas as well as being only minutes up the road from the Kings Theatre. Staff were friendly, efficient and helpful. Food in the bar was OK , and breakfast was better than expected... more

Back from a one night stay at the Marks with husband and 9 yrs old son. I found the hotel excellently placed for all central Glasgow sights, bountiful shopping, restaurants and public transport. We had an executive room facing the street on the fifth floor. Expected and got some street noise but could have closed the second set of windows... more

Stayed at the Marks in August of 2008 for 6 nights. Like other reviewers, I thought there were a number of good features of the property. The room I had was spacious (double and a single bed). The bathroom was clean (though I can see where shower curtains might get into trouble - they hang well into the bottom of... more

Good location. Easily walkable into the central attractions of Glasgow. Good deal. We had two nights booked for a party of three in a large room and two nights in a smaller room when the party slimmed down to 2 - the hotel simply kept us in the larger room for all 4 nights. I guess that may have suited... more

This is nearly a really good hotel. If they had done the bathrooms in the refit and put in air con, it would be great. Check in was polite and quick, but not charming. Lobby and public areas very nicely done. Room, 8th floor, big, very clean, nicely made up,stuffy. Would not have been happy being on a low floor... more

We booked this hotel for a 3 night stay in Glasgow based mainly on the reviews we saw on Tripadvisor. I am not disappointed that we stayed at Marks Hotel but I am unconvinced that it merits quite as much praise as it receives. First off, the location is terrific. Right in the middle of everything, just perfect, close to... more

Lovely boutique hotel with contemporary design. Convenient city centre location near Sauchiehall Street with some good restaurants and bars close at hand. The staff were friendly and helpful. We arrived very early in the morning, only expecting to leave our bags with the concierge but were immediately given a room. The breakfasts were excellent with a good choice of cooked... more

We spent a really great weekend at Marks Hotel in June 08. It is really well located, close to lots of bars, restaurants, shopping and cultural spots. The only disadvantage with this is that if you are at the front of the hotel like we were it can be quite noisy until late, but we didn't mind so much as... more

We stayed at the Mark Hotel for three nights in June and loved it. The hotel is clean modern and the staff were really pleasant. A reasonably priced very central hotel near all the sights and very close to the shopping areas. The willow cafe on Sauchiehall street was a bit of a disappointment and very expensive nothing like I... more
