There's a lot of good things about this hostel: it's very clean and modern, there is a lift to all floors, they provide linen/duvets and towels (so you don't need to bring any, although, if it's during the winter months you may want to bring a sleeping bag as well, as the duvet is fairly thin), the location is excellent,... more

I stayed here for 2 nights on a Stag Do in early July, and I've got to say that it was nigh on perfect for this reason. I was thoroughly modern throughout, with internet access, lifts, a good and spacious bar/eating area and nice fixtures and fittings on our room. Admittedly the room was small, but for coming in, getting... more

We stayed here for a crazy fringe festival weekend and it was great. The location was right near the night life and close enough to all the shows and town. The rooms were spotless as were the shower and bathroom. The bar is great but it does party on until quite late at night. As we were doing the same... more

Stayed with part of a stag party for the Fringe Festival. Stayed on a 4 bed dorm with the others I was travelling with. The room wasn't huge, and wasn't luxury by any means, but it was en suite with a fantastic shower, and hey, it IS a hostel at the end of the day! I've stayed in worse places... more

£25 per day + £1 on line booking fee + £4.50 breakfast = £30.50 Quite expensive for a hostel. Positive aspects: Very well located. The bed is good, towel soft and the linen clean. The en-suite bathroom very tidy and useful. The staff are nice. But I think this hostel is too chained, I mean, too much formality made it... more

We spend one night in this hostel and got about 3 hours of sleep. There is a bar/cafe in the middle of the building, so the drunken shouting and screaming echoed from the walls and the windows have absolutely no sound proofing. I can´t imagine why this hostel would let people shout in their premises until 4am. The bed was... more

I stayed at the SmartCity Hostel with 3 friends and I think we made an excellent choice. The rooms are very nice for a hostel. If you've never stayed at a hostel, just think of accomodations that are designed to meet your basic needs: a bed, a place to store your stuff, a sink, a toilet and a shower. The... more

Stayed one night and was blown away by the incredibly helpful staff, fabulous amenities, and fantastic location just a 3 minute walk from the Royal Mile. The hostel was super clean with a great cafe that served adequate food and easy internet access. We were leaving late the next day and they provided a safe and secure luggage room for... more

This is one of best hostels I've seen. It is better than some chain hotels, the rooms are nice, clean linen, internet terminals, food, great location in Edinburgh. Staff are friendly too. HIghly recommended. more

We stayed here for 1 night and I really liked this hostel. Brand new, despite it is located in an old building, very clean and functional. The common areas are very good and the member's kitchen has everything if you prefer to prepare your own meals, just bring the food: refrigerators (4), stoves, kettle, micro-wave, oven and kitchen equipment...everything is... more
