Dale of Melbourne, Australia We booked 2 nights at the George as part of a package for the Tattoo. We had been touring Europe for a month and were looking forward to staying in a bit of luxury, or what we thought would be luxury as we were paying $AUD550 a night. The George is centrally located and we were... more

Have stayed in The George twice, once as a valwntines day surprise trip, where we were in a superior room. This was a package with a cheaper price than normal and it was worth every penny. Check in was slow but it gave us time to relax whilst waiting. The room was complimentary upgrade and was huge and the bathroom... more

It is with regret that I had some problems with this hotel. I stayed with work and was put in a standard room at the back of the hotel. The room was nice, but next to the aircon vents. As I'm a light sleeper, I asked If there was a chance to change room. Excellent reception staff, very understanding -... more

Dear Lauren - Cumbria Thanks for your kind comments! We have now completely refurbished the hotel and I can tell you that we spent some time researching the quality of beds! We get a lot of comments about these. We are adding a further 50 rooms onto th hotel as we are so busy, this extensuon will also have a...

The only saving grace was that we didn't pay the full price and we got a late deal. We stayed one night and that was more than enough. Firstly when we arrived there was no one to check us in. Finally someone came to serve us and said that there was only one person who had authority to check us... more

Apart from the fact that the rooms I've had have been a bit on the small side I've no real complaints about the hotel. There's a great atmosphere, a good bar, an excellent breakfast and the staff are pretty helpful. more

From reading the reviews I didn't expect much. Add to that the fact I was on a cheap conference rate I thought i'd get the worst room in the place. In fact the room itself was excellent... The view over a building site was the only downside. The builders were literally 10 feet away and when you opened the curtains... more

No parking but centrally situated and easy to get to by public transport/taxi. Very limited lounge and bar space, none reserved for residents (planned roof top extension may rectify this). When the hotel is busy you may have to queue for breakfast. Staff generally helpful and courteous. We were there for a wedding which was well managed by the hotel.... more

We booked The George Hotel on last minute.com and got a great deal B&B. The hotel is fabulously located on George Street where all the nice shops are and is ideally situated for going to bars/ restaurants in the city centre. We had no problems with check in but didn't like the fact there is no parking at the hotel... more

In terms of location, the George Hotel is ideal, within walking distance of most of Edinburgh's main sights; George Street is the most stylish of the city's main shopping streets. Check-in was a little slow, but staff on reception were friendly. The room was at the back of the hotel, so there was no view. However, it was of reasonable... more
