I specially booked a room suitable for a wheelchair, and requested walk-in shower, easy access etc. Firstly there is no permanent ramp to the hotel. The lift did not accommodate a chair with helper easily, and there was no way our luggage could have accompanied us. The room was on the 2nd floor and through difficult doors. There was a... more

This was my third visit to the Roxburghe. Each time there have been changes made to the physical surroundings. Each has been an improvement. The staff has always been friendly, professional and extremely helpful. Any request is cheerfully granted. The gym and spa are wonderful. The location is the best in Edinburgh. I have been back to Edinburgh 5 times... more

We stayed here on a Saturday night as a treat. We weren't disappointed. It is a beautiful hotel in a great location, and is up to the standard expected from a MacDonald hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, the recently refurbished rooms are beautiful; well stocked with toiletries, towels, etc. Leisure facilities are pleasant and clean, again... more

Was a little apprehensive when booking this hotel due to some reviews on this site but as the hotel seemed to be ideal for us we decided to take a chance. We had a great experience all round, greeting by a wonderful concierge who guided us through reception and on to our room took all the stress out booking and... more

Stayed at The Roxburghe on the weekend at the end of August with my wife. As previously reviewed we stayed as part of the Tesco Clubcard vouchers deals. I find the hotel was superbly placed in the city for all amenities and pubs, restaurants and sights. The hotel itself is well kept, clean and has been refurbed early this year.... more

On our trip through Scotland we spent a few days in Edinburgh and had a wonderful time staying at the Roxburghe. The hotel is located in the heart of the city, although it is tough to find (it is a little door in the square) and parking is pretty bad (there isn't any out front, the doorman jumped in the... more

We booked through Last minute . com at a cost of £220 per night bexcluding breakfast. I know it's festival time but I expected it to be better for the money. We booked a "larger room with King Sized Bed" well I don't know how one could possibly get a King size into a smaller room, it was very long... more

I stayed at the Roxburghe with my other half in July. During our stay we got harassed by staff. After a night out my other half and I returned to the hotel. My boyfriend took the stairs while I jumped in the lift. While waiting for the lift I saw a waiter looking at me, when the doors open he... more

Management response from
guestrelati0ns, Guest Relations Manager

I have taken the opportunity to fully investigate the comments regrettably it appears that we received complaints from guests in surrounding rooms to yours who had contacted reception to express their concern that there may have been a disturbance in your room.As such the Night Manager followed our standard operating procedures of visiting the room,he may have waited a short...

Just back from a long weekend in Edinburgh. Booked the Roxburghe through a Tesco Clubcard deal. Was a little wary of the type of room we would get but was impressed when we arrived. Newly renovated standard double room which was lovely. Only niggle we had was that the room still held a strong smell of paint (not good to... more

We really enjoyed our stay at the Roxburghe. The location of this hotel in the New Town is very convenient for walking to Princes Street, Princes Park and the Royal Mile, as well as for exploring the New Town. It's also close to Rose Street which has some amazing pubs. Everyone on the staff was very friendly. We were shown... more
