The hotel is in an excellent location for a short break in Edinburgh. The walk from Waverley Station was easy with our trolley cases and the buses were very frequent all day and everyday outside the hotel in Princes Street for one pound fare, where ever we went. The open top tour buses started across the road. All the staff... more

Two night stay here in late September. Room was splendid, with great view over to the castle, Bank of Scotland and Arthur's Seat. Breakfast one of the best that I've had, although it would have been nice to have a larger selection of bread at breakfast. Would definitely stay here again, since it was the perfect location for exploring all... more

The location is perfect for visiting the castle and shops but the hotel itself was a little rundown looking. Firstly when you enter the main doors there's no recetion desk to greet you! You have to go up a flight of stairs or use the elevators (which NEVER seemed to come down to the first floor!!)...after waiting 5 minutes after... more

What a shame that this down -at -heel hotel will be so many overseas visitors only experience of Scottish hospitality. Its ideal position, overlooking The Scott Monument, with views over Princess Street Gardens to the High Street with the Castle on the skyline, must attract thousands of visitors each year. Inside however, awaits an experience which occasionally achieves mediocrity. All... more

Love this hotel, location is amazing, staff were really friendly and the food was yum. I booked a standard room and although adequate for the price I was paying I just couldnt stay in that fantastic location without enjoying the views so I upgraded to a "Castle View Room", well worth the extra cash. The rooms were really clean and... more

I'm rating this hotel above average mainly due to it's location. You can't beat it for it's central location, right on Princes Street, across from the Scott Memorial. It's easy access to the bus/train center, and walking to both the Old Town and New Town, along with the Rose Street area. It's worth it to pay for the upgrade to... more

The best feature about this Hotel is its location. It is right on Princes Street and the Castle and the Royal Mile are only a 10 minute walk away. The hotel however, is in need of of some serious renovation. My room was small and although reasonably clean was extremely tatty. it looked as if it had not been decorated... more

The location is great, right on Princes Street, with superb views, and if you're in a street-facing room on the 7th floor you can climb out the window onto the balcony. However I didn't have a comfortable stay. The room stank of smoke (I was later told that they had "really good air freshener" that I should have asked for... more

Awful, ugly decor and this was in the "recently updated" Castle view room. Very noisy with window open as it is on a major street. Double glass helped a little. Not clean. dated. horrible lighting. Uncomfortable bed. yukky bath/shower with crappy towels. Rude staff. Actually many were very nice but one was rude enough for them all. The location was... more

Although the hotel is located in a prime location, the rooms are not what you would expect from a Ramada hotel. We stayed there for 4 days and two of those days we were awoken by fire alarms. One of these triggered alarms forced us to evacuate the hotel for over an hour. Among the other "pleasantries" we encountered were... more
