I stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in September, only paid £55 for the rooms for 2 of us and very much enjoyed my stay. I cannot disagree more with the other reviews i've seen on here, as the staff were really nice when we arrived, room was a bit basic, but I would say it was good value... more

Grade 2 listed building very close to the centre of birmingham. Excellent facilities and bang up to the 21st century! A Proper niche hotel offering great value for money and always a strong Brummie welcome. more

Agree with most of the posters here - staff unskilled and unfriendly. Decor dark and unwelcoming, especially the sludge coloured walls in bedrooms. Corridors leading to the rooms smelly and scruffy. Sash windows rattle through the night letting gales of cold air in. Food in bar bland boring and luke warm I arrived on a Saturday and there where some... more

I am so sorry to learn of the apparent issues that the guests above appear to have experienced during their recent visit to PARAGON HOTEL. I would very much welcome the opportunity of addressing these issues with them personally and do hope that they may feel able to contact me at PARAGON HOTEL to discuss them further. I place an...

Avoid this hotel. The reception staff have very limited people skills - we were given, what i can only describe as a very strange welcome, which I had better not post. There seemed no appreciation that we had chosen their hotel. The decor is badly retro and need of a serious investment. The rooms are clean, but very stuffy and... more

Having booked my stay through a reputable company i had used before, i expected the hotel to at least upto a certain standard - how wrong could i have been. Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very young (and im only 22 myself) and ignorant man who made it quite obvious that he didnt really want to be there... more

Morning at Birmingham's Paragon hotel and in the dining room it's the daily pandemonium that is breakfast..... it was as if residents coming down to eat breakfast was the last thing the staff had anticipated. Welcomed by an unstaffed eating area so gloomy in appearance that it took listening to a couple of Joy Division albums to cheer me up,... more

One of the very worst hotels I have stayed in. I booked a "superior" room & was shown to a small shabby room with a lumpy bed. There was loud music late at night which I complained about & was told by reception over the phone that it was nothing to do with the hotel. I went to investigate &... more

The bed so lumpy I had to ask for an extra duvet to put over the bed to mask the springs stabbing you. No Shower either, only a bath. I would also assume it has not had any work done to it since it opened. Otherwise the staff were friendly. I would not recommend this one. more

Didn't enjoy my stay at all, the hotel was not very clean and i found the staff rather abrupt. My bedroom was very untidy and din't feel like it had been cleaned properly. I have stayed in Birmingham a few times on business and although the price was attractive sometimes it is worth paying a bit extra to stay somewhere... more

The Paragon Hotel is an enigma! It's a very strange gothic place where it seems that all the laws of everything in the Universe break down and get spring boarded into oblivion. Put simply there's something not quite right with it. So where to start? Well the exterior of the building is beautiful, it's both enchanting and sinister, imposing but... more
