I needed a cheap option close to Heathrow for a 24 hour layover. All the other hotels (close to the airport) are way too expensive...and many, although close to Heathrow have NOTHING nearby...nothing to walk to, etc. You might as well be in Kansas. The Oakwood is a great option. It offers basic but charming accomodation at the most competive... more

Booked a stay at the Oakwood with great promise but upon arrival I was horrified at the state of my bedroom and surroundings. The carpet was dirty with various stains and had obviously never seen a vacuum cleaner. The room was damp and my sheets clammy to touch - the smell was terrible. I have stayed at the Oakwood Guest House several times in route to Africa.
