This is a quaint little hotel set in a very lovely village in the Cotswolds. The dining room had a very good meal, accomodations and staffing left a lot to be desired. Wait staff in the dining room for both breakfast and dinner were polite and friendly but extremely slow and would disappear for a very long time and also... more

My boyfriend and I stayed for 2 nights in a Superior Room on the top floor in what I guess would originally have been the attic. Our bedroom was extremely cosy, however we felt that the price we paid wasnt refected in the standard of the room or any part of the upstairs of the hotel. I know its the... more

We found this lovely little hotel on the web. From start to finish the staff could not do enough to help. I was organising a Golden Wedding party for my parents, which took a lot of planning and rearranging, but the staff were patient, courteous, helpful and unruffled throughout! I was phoning daily at times!! The hotel itself is situated... more

At first everything appeared fine when I booked into the hotel, the member of staff was polite and friendly, however we stayed in room number 7 which had a four poster bed. The bedroom carpet was dirty and stained and the bathroom had an old wooden toilet seat. ( Perhaps they should know not the most healthiest and hygienic )... more

We stayed in the Captain Keyte room which was charged at £205 for 2 people on a D,B&B basis. The room was clean but small although the bathroom was quite spacious. The only means of showering was by means of a tap attachment but no hook on the wall for the showerhead and no curtain. Dinner seems to be prepared... more

Booked The Royalist for a special birthday treat. It turn out super and the staff were very helpful. The hotel goes back in history quite away but the rooms very much up to modern standards, warm and comfortable. Breakfast was everything one would expect and the evening meals divine. Recommend to anyone wanting something a bit special. more

Had my concerns about the hotel as prior to our stay I had emailed them twice re directions and had not response despite getting read receipts both times !! I booked this hotel for my 40th Birthday last weekend and despite the initial reservations was not disappointed. We stayed in the Cavalier suite which was beautiful and very well laid... more

Spent my birthday at this lovely hotel - we stayed in the Maugesbury Suite which was very nicely furnished and quiet. The bed was huge and so comfortable I didn't want to get up the next day! The 'sunken jacuzzi' wasn't quite as I'd expected - a standard bath with jets and definately not big enough for 2 if you... more

I booked this hotel for a "surprise" weekend getaway for me and my girlfriend and it more than met my expectations. Our room was clean, comfortable and - although a little careworn in places - it was well worth the price. We found the staff friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was excellent. One of the Royalist's main advantages is... more

I'm amazed at the some of the reviews on this site for the Royalist. Maybe you're standards are monumentally high, or you just like a moan, but the Royalist was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The greeting at reception warm and friendly, shown to our amazing room, which was a lovely size, tastefully decorated to a modern standard whilst... more
