The place needs an Extreme Makeover so don't expect a palace. Other than that the staff was very helpful, polite and pleasant, mini fridge in the room worked, good restaurant, flawless express check-out, indoor pool for the kids. more

The beds were hard and uncomfortable. Next to ceiling was a vent, this allowed us to hear tv and voices coming from next room. We were kept awake until 3 am. When we notified hotel staff at reception desk, polite but not friendly. We had been traveling around Novia Scotia for 7 days, this was the worst hotel. more

The Rodd Grand Yarmouth isn't bad...just thoroughly ordinary. What's in a name? Not much. "Grand Yarmouth" led me to expect a historic palace. But when I finally laid eyes on it...what a letdown! I suppose it's not the hotel's fault that it occupies a nondescript box that looks like it was built in the 1960s or 1970s, but it didn't... more

This hotel is utterly awful. We checked into the hotel because there was absolutely no other place in Yarmouth to stay and we had to catch a ferry to Bar Harbor the next day. First off, the room smelled like urine and/or had a "musty" odor. The hallways were very muggy and wet and also had a "funky" odor. We... more

As a member of the Armed Services, we requested a government rate. After producing ID, we were required to sign a form to go along with the statement, " sign this to ensure you don't trash the place". After 27 years of dedicated service to this country, I would have never thought that I would here a comment like that... more

The beds were extremly hard, and the pillows were hard and uncomfortable. We were up every hour of the night due to uncomfortableness. Woke up with stiff necks, sore backs, etc. Minus the bed and sleepin the hotel was wonderful. more

Property needs a total makeover....unless you like being in the seventies, you'll love it here. Staff are overworked and rather short with guests at the check in....no mention of simple phrases like (welcome, or nice to have you stay with us, or hello) Actually transaction was...."checking in?", Yes, "name", "fill out this form", credit card, here's your keys. Repeat the... more

We had a pleasant stay at the Rodd Grand Yarmouth. They had especially nice soap in the bathrooms. The room was what you’d expect for the price, the room was a little on the small side, but not bad. I agree with some of the other comments about the desk staff lacking personality. As a side note - even though... more

This trip was exactly as we expected. Friends had told us the visit was like stepping back in history. I agree. The hotel was ok. The gentleman on the desk had very little personality. There was no greeting upon arrival. When we left the lady on the desk thanked us for staying. The room was clean, however, I did find... more

My stay at this hotel was just fine. My room was clean and neat, and the hotel staff was very friendly and helpful with all of my questions. The gym downstairs was a little disappointing, as it was lacking in updated equipment. I have to confess that I didn't eat at the restaurant, as there were other nearby options right... more
