Great surprise! The previous reviews were Ok, but not really good, but the rate was good and it was near the CA-NV stateline so I took a chance? PAID OFF! Tony, the manager, was so nice. He let me check-in two hours early and give me a lovely room (#110 to be exact). It is pleasantly decorated, nicely lit with... more

Just returned from a one night stay and it was a horrible experience. I was reluctant to stay here because of the bad reviews but then read some of the positive reviews that said the problems were resolved. ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! We have stayed in all types of Hotels/Motels ranging from luxury to budget and we are not very picky but... more

I recently stayed at the Highland Inn for two nights (July 2 and July 3, 2008) while in town for a wedding. I originally found the inn on kayak.com but then came to tripadvisor.com to see the reviews. Although there were a few iffy reviews, we decided to risk it b/c the price was right ($69.00/night). If you are looking... more

I "risked" a recent stay at the Highland mainly because I was looking for a dog friendly place and needed 3 rooms at a very reasonable place since my elderly Mom and Aunt were on a fixed budget. We all walked away HIGHLY impressed and pleased. The rooms were spotless, there is obviously new construction and the bathrooms looked brand... more

Let me begin by saying that I drove by myself from Los Angeles to the Highland Inn on a quest for one night of peace and quiet. I had never been to Lake Tahoe. I came with the notion that it would be a serene mountain get -away. When I turned onto SR 50, I hit gridlock. Apparently, ignorance is... more

We got the room thought Hotwire at a good rate ($39), but then when i read all the bad reviews, i didnt know what to expect.. When we got there, however, that all changed quickly. The room was quite beautiful and clean, and appeared to be recently remodeled, with everything in the room fresh and new. It was quite nicely... more

Stayed here over two days on a ski vacation. The property has been remodeled to look like a class A establishment. Hardwood floors, gorgeous bathrooms. Overall a fantastic stay. The poor reviews on this site should be removed as they are no longer relevant. more

This was the worst hotel experience of my life! The attendant that works the front desk is a complete [--]. The place smells like smoke and they charged me for two nights when we only stayed one night (check your credit card statement)! We listened to a snowplower all night and didn't get any sleep. The next morning we went... more

This place is absolutely disgusting. I have no idea where to begin. There were cigarette burns on the comforter. There was a toothbrush in the shower. We were unable to control the water temperature because of the other hotel rooms using the water at the same time. The beds were dusty and smelled like mold. The mattresses were old, and... more

I got there with the family at 6:00PM, the office is disgusting smoke smell real bad, rooms are too small, too full beds is the best you can get for a family of four, No iron, no hair dryer, no bath tub, no dressers, all that is fine compared to the heater noise which no one was able to sleep... more
