A three night stay during our journey across the Rockies other hotels visited were · Sandman Hotel Calgary · Mount Royal Banff · The Thompson Kamloops · Quality Vancouver The Amethyst is a rather ugly low-level affair just on the edge of town right opposite the railroad & on a busy ( in relative terms – remember this is Canada... more

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days. Rooms are very big and clean and nicely decorated. Balcony for the smokers. Lovely bar staff and room staff. receiption staff . overall this is a very good hotel. walking distance from the station as they only have a few taxis in the town so you can walk which takes less than... more

Do not pay the list price for this hotel or you will be disappointed! We booked via ebookers/travel supermarket and paid £51 per room per night - total bargain! We paid an extra £5 for a mountain view and this is at the front of the hotel so the main road is below and the train line is opposite -... more

Having read some of the reviews of this hotel I was not looking forward to staying there, but had no choice as we were there for two nights as part of a tour. I needn't have worried! Our room was large, clean and well appointed. We had no problems with noise even though we were at the front of the... more

From outside it looks a little like a 70's motel rather than a 'Lodge', however, inside was fine. The rooms were clean, as big as many others we have been in. Yes, whilst it was on the main road and by the railway, it was not noisy at all, and we slept with the windows open. We had an excellent... more

This hotel is old and tired and is to be avoided at all cost. It is extremely expensive for what it is. Located across the road from the rail depot sleep is completely out of the question and the trains come and go all night long and are very very noisy. We had no complaints about the staff or food... more

We stayed at the Amethyst July 18th and 19th. We were very, very satisfied. Our room was very large (it was a suite) and very clean. It had air conditioning which we greatly appreciated as the weather was very hot, and two large balconies. We enjoyed the hotel's restaurant (Anthony's). The food was very good and the chef was excellent!!... more

After reading the reviews on this and other sites, I was nervous about what our stay would be like at the Amethyst Lodge. We decided to go with it, since it was only an overnight stay. I booked a "Superior Room with Breakfast". Imagine our surprise when we walked into a beautiful, huge room! I agree with others who talk... more
