My husband and I went to Alberta for our summer vacation and our first wedding anniversary. We started our tour of the Rockies in Calgary were we stayed at the Faimont Palliser. When we booked this hotel, our agent advised us that the hotel was in major need of renovations...I can honestly say that I did not notice this. To... more

We stayed at the Fairmont Calgary Palliser in the third week of August, 2008. Calgary as a city was itself very underwhelming, which certainly did not add to our experience at this hotel. The review below will probably make it seem as if we are overly picky and spoiled. We really are not. However, we had a much higher expectation... more

This hotel has a very grand entrance, beautiful to period early 1900's. The restaurant was wonderful, food perfect, the bar was elegant and charming with very cozy tables. The service was 5 star all the way. The room was great, very clean and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. Truly, one of the finer hotels that I have... more

Nice that they had a pool and the chocolate buffet. Other than that! Dinner was awful. Room was small, dark and dingy. Scary location, and awful staff! Totally unlike Fairmont. more

I recently stayed here and wouldn't recommend it. It is def overpriced and overrated. You are basically paying for the building and the name and not the actual room. Our room was average for the price, the bed was quite uncomfortable and we had a lot of noise all night long which made sleeping impossible. However the service as with... more

Stayed here for 3 nights two nights in one room and a night in a double suite. Both rooms were wonderful as indeed is the experience at the hotel. The Palliser scores over the other hotels in Calgary because of its originality. Whilst it has all the comforts that you can expect from a Fairmont it has retained in its... more

The Fairmont Palliser has the ability to be a 5 star hotel, but does not match the quality of other Fairmonts we recently visited. Located conveniently in the heart of downtown Calgary: this fact could be a positive or negative, depending on your room location. The railroad is almost directly in back of the hotel, so make certain your room... more

We stayed here for one night at the end of our Canadian adventure. The Palliser is one of the original railroad hotels, built right by the railway track in the centre of Calgary. We were very luck to get a suite, which lived up to the Fairmont reputation: clean, comfortable, large, well equipped. The hotel is in the centre and... more

Just returned from a few days in Calgary, staying at the Fairmont. I had been hesitant to book because I'd read other reviews about the dated decor.. and they were right. The lobby and entrance are grand and stately, just as it must have been when it was built. However, our room did not stand up to the Fairmont reputation.... more

I stayed at the Palliser for six nights. And if it is all about location, this place is perfect. Shopping, restaurants and tourist attractions like the Calgary Tower are all within walking distance. Being one of the oldest hotels in town, the Palliser has the ambience of the good old days...but the charm is fading. The public areas such as... more
