I wanted to visit the Camino Real with my husband after attending a conference there two years ago (when I stayed at the wonderful NH Puebla). The hotel is stunning, and in a great location, but the rooms are surprisingly small, and the service was horrible from start to finish. We booked a three-night stay through Orbitz, and requested a... more

This is a place where you have to know what you are getting. It is a former convent. The place is just beautiful if you are into this kind of thing. Even the bed headboards were interesting. The location is close enough to the Zocolo to make it a short walk. It is far enough away that you don't get... more

Keep in mind this hotel was built in the 1500's, so the rooms are small and poorly lit. It is charming, if you like old convents. We didn't expect luxury, and we were not disappointed. Our room had a peculiar smell to it. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Because I believe this hotel is just average, I will seek another... more

My family and my sister-in-laws family (2 adults and 2 kids in each family) stayed at the Camino Real in Puebla at the end of August. We booked 3 rooms for 2 nights on-line and when we arrived after a five hour bus ride from Oaxaca, were told that they could not honour our reservation for the 1st night because... more

I stayed in this hotel for Christmas, and even they were very helpful setting up an extra table for Christmas dinner, (there were no more tables available), I was very disappointed with the room, it is old, you can easily notice the lack of maintenance, and it was worst because I compared the hotel with the Camino Real Oaxaca, both... more

The hotel is in a beautiful historic building that has been well-maintained and preserved. The fact that it was a convent also means that it is somewhat austere. There is no landscaping in the huge courtyard, and no place to sit down and relax, except on on couch in the small lobby area. It would be nice if the hotel... more

I stayed at the Camino Real in December for a business trip. Obviously this was not their peak season as everything in the hotel except for the restaurant and the bar were always closed. The courtyard is beautiful and in the middle of the summer this must be a great hotel to stay at. There is also a lot within... more

I booked a room for 4 nights using their online Utell Pegasus system. I have to cancel two weeks in advance due to to a change of plans. I tried to cancel online, but the system wasn't working. Thus I called the 800 number provided and was told that my reservation could not be canceled by their office and that... more

We just returned from a delightful stay at the Camino Real Puebla. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is courteous, and the rates are extremely reasonable, as long as you don’t pay the rack rate. I found a rate of $132 USD for a junior suite on Expedia and Orbitz, but since I don’t like to book through 3rd parties,... more

The hotel has good location and garage parking, the courtyard and lobby are beautiful, and the price is reasonable (Note: they convert their US$80 rate into pesos at a poor exchange rate so the actual bill is closer to US$85-90). Rooms are on the small side, but clean. Restaurant looked nice but we didn't eat there b/c it was expensive. more
