We made last minute plans to visit Oaxaca for a weekend and I had some trouble finding hotels available in the downtown area as we were arriving during the Guelaguetza festivities. I was afraid the hotel would be a bit far from the Zocalo but for us it was a short walk of about six blocks, mostly down a closed... more

This hotel is reflective of consistent Holiday Inn quality with the only complaint being that our room was a little noisy in the morning from traffic and the hotel car park. Try and get a pool view room if possible to avoid this. Complimentary breakfast was plain but suited our needs ok. Hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from the... more

When trying to decide where to stay in Oaxaca, there were so many negative comments about this hotel, that I was very reluctant. However-----My first 2 or 3 choices did NOT accept children under 12. And, this holiday was with my daughter and her family including 2 young ones---ages 6 and 11 yrs. I was actually VERY surprized at the... more

I was worried about the reviews I read here about this hotel. I really don't know what they are talking about. This hotel is a great value (70 USD a night). Rooms are huge, very comfortable, modern furniture, A/C, cable, Internet, large bathrooms. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is free and very good. Just two cons:... more

We had a wonderful stay in Oaxaca at the Holiday Inn Express. It is a very modern and new hotel with an hacienda ambience. We stayed in a double double standard room and found it to be very spacious, nicely decorated, clean room. The bathroom was large with marble all over. The T.V. had many, many channels in English and... more

I have read with interest the other 2006 reviews for the Holiday Inn Express Centro Historico Oaxaca. I can agree with all of them, even the ones that are contradictory, because the rooms in this hotel vary a great deal in view, smell, cleanliness, noise, comfort, and condition. In the early years of this hotel most of the rooms were... more

I wanted to visit Oaxaca because it's very well known city in Mexico with very interesting places to visit but I had not so much time to look for the perfect place. I did not wanted to pay premiums of very expensive hotels but I did not wanted to make experiments. The hotel is located conviniently close to the city... more

I stayed here after reading the rave reviews. I found the hotel in extremely poor condition. My room had a very musty smell. It was impossible to be relaxed there. The staff was just so, so. They certainly never went out of their way to help. I agree with the last post, this was just another holiday inn. Never again. more

Let me start by saying that I travel extensively throughout Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean. I enjoy smaller, intimate accomodations that exemplify the local culture. This past Semana Santa I decided to take my parents to Oaxaca, one of my favorite Mexican cities. My parents are not as flexible travelers and require certain comforts like television, hot water and... more

We have travelled all of Mexico through the years and found our stay in Oaxaca most restful and enjoyable.. You will find many Mexicans come from different parts of Mexico to enjoy the calm and peacefulness of Oaxaca. The Zocola is a wonderful place to enjoy teens, families, senior intereacting with one another. We wrre ther oin the begnmg of... more
