We were looking for a nice clean moderately priced room for one night prior to taking the morning ferry to Anegada. Based on the advice of both tripadvisor and traveltalkonline we decided upon Maria's by the Sea. Maria's fit the bill perfectly. The rooms are simple but were very clean, had a nice balcony, was moderately priced, working air conditioning,... more

I stayed at Maria's for one night prior to a ferry trip to Anegada. I booked a superior room with a balcony overlooking the harbor and other islands in the distance. The room was large and clean. I could sit on the balcony for hours listening to the waves and watching the traffic come in/out of the harbour. There is... more

Tortola: Maria's by the Sea February, 2008 Maria's is a basic motel to rest your head on Tortola before or after a boat trip. There is nothing fancy about the place but it has the basics and is clean. The staff moves fairly slow but that is typical for the islands so it is really no different than anywhere else.... more

We stayed 2 nights at Maria's before boarding a boat lin February, 2007, and had a very pleasant experience. The hotel was nice and clean, not luxurious, but very adequate. The location was excellent, right in the center of town. Our room had a nice balcony and the view was incredible. We spent several hours just gazing out at the... more

Maria's was OK. We stayed there the night before we had to catch a ferry. The room was sparse, with no plugs in the bathroom, no pictures on the walls, not well lit etc. The food at the restaurant there was good, but the service was very slow (even by island standards). It is under renovation, but it is a... more

We stayed only one night at Maria's by the Sea in order to take a ferry the next morning. We loved Maria's and booked a sea side room. It was large and very clean and the restaurant was very good. The staff were very friendly. I read some reviews of Maria's that weren't that great and I think the people... more

We arrived in Road Town apprehensive of what we'd find for a hotel since we'd read so many reviews of how awful they all were. First of all, if you are from the U.S., a Hilton Honors guest or something like that, just lower your expectations a little and you'll be quite surprised at how nice this little gem is.... more

During a recent trip to the BVI's we stayed on 2 seperate occasions at Maria's By the Sea. Our first night was in a non-view room over the parking lot. We arrived on the ferry from St. Thomas and walked the 3-5 minutes to Maria's. The room was spotless, had air conditioning, 2 double beds, and basic non-fancy decor. It... more

Don't be put off by the negative reviews. We stayed here one night before our Windjammer cruise. The hotel is not fancy but the room was fine. The pool has been newly renovated. The grounds seemed to be well maintained. The staff were especially helpful and even went out of their way to assist with locating our lost baggage. The... more

This hotel was perfect for my two week stay in Tortola BVI. The room was huge with a spacious balcony overlooking the harbor. I was on the third floor and fell asleep each night listening to the waves hit the shore. There was cable TV, a small kitchen (sink, small refrig, cabinets, coffee maker) but not a stove or microwave.... more
