We weren't aware of the buying tickets beforehand scheme other reviewers have mentioned, so we queued. We arrived just before opening time (which is 10.30am) and the queue was already quite long. It was 45 minutes before we actually had bought our tickets and got into the museum to start looking around, but later on in the day the queue... more

First, as another reviewer has already said, buy your tickets online at the Hermitage Shop. Buy two day tickets, because it takes a day to get oriented and establish your priorities. The long line is to buy tickets. So if you already have your voucher you do not have to wait in line - at all. Move past all those... more

We were able to spend a full day at The Hermitage which we needed to see the wonderful state rooms, The Raphael Loggia and the fabulous paintings, tapestries and sculptures. We went with Russian Gateway and our guide Maria got us into the Hermitage without having to queque and took us straight to the french Impressionist gallery which we wanted... more

We went on a tour of the Hermitage with Royal Caribbean which included the Gold Room. Our tour of the museum itself was very rushed, it was also very crowded. The only time we were able take our time and see everything at our own pace was in the Gold Room in which we spent about a half an hour.... more

While a visit to St. Petersburg is not complete without a visit to the Hermitage and Winter Palace, be warned you will find more than just an impressive art collection. For my wife and I, the bad attitude and poor treatment by the employees unfortunately overshadowed our visit. In all our worldwide travels, we have never seen such dismal, rude... more

We went to St Petersburg to see the sights but mainly to go to The Hermitage. If you dont want to stand in line for 2 or 3 or more hours, go online to The Hermitage Shop before you leave and buy a 1 or 2 day pass (would reccommend 2 day)costs US$24 each, just print out your copy and... more

Anyone who has even the slightest appreciation for art will treasure this museum. I've been to the Hermitage a half dozen times, but it never ceases to impress me. I read somewhere that the Hermitage is one of the two great art galleries in the world, and you can pick the other one yourself. I support this sentiment 100%. No trip to St Petersburg would be complete without a visit to this institution. The art collection rivals any in the world and to my mind beats the rest hands... more

It was a really fancy place, but I went in the summer and it was so hot (no AC inside) and crowded to the max. Some of the doors and statues inside were fantastic. Make sure you go in the morning when there are less people. more
