Have been to this mosque several times, it always astounds me, it really is a masterpiece and has a very interesting history too. It is not on the main tourist track, but well worth a visit and easy to get to, it is behind the Citadel and is one of Cairo's great landmarks. more

There are so many Mosques in Cairo that its easy to feel that they're all the same. Don't make that mistake because you'll end up missing some of the hidden pearls out there.
