Quinta da Regaleira is a breathtaking place to visit. Palacio is beautiful but looks much better from outside than inside, the garden is another story. There is a great collection of turrets, gardens, wells, towers, statues, mysterious grottoes, ponds, providing breathtaking views. This was my husbands favourite place in our trip to Europe and my 2nd/3rd favourite. The other two favourite are also in Sintra - what an amazing place! All we knew about Quinta da Regaleira was a comment by a tourist to take a torch - they didn't explain why but we wished we had! The garden is absolutely amazing... more

This place wasn't even mentioned in my guide book, but it was really marvelous! The grounds were lush and bursting with color. Everywhere you looked there was something else tucked away. We didn't know anything about this site and did not get information on it while visiting. No tourist information in English!! It was fascinating non the less and the highlight of our trip. It is definitely worth a visit as it transforms you into another time and place. Very eerie and intriguing. more
