This is essential , you must go to see the Mona Lisa. This is the most amazing museum. Get there early to avoid the crowds. The cafes are great and not too overpriced, the restaurants are great. I suggest take the museums own tour , it is fast paced and runs through the main attractions in some detail. Our guide... more

The Louvre museum is the best collection of art in one place in the world. It is impossible to see all that it has to offer even if you spent an entire week there so it is best to hit the high points and the exhibits that you find most interesting on your first visit and save some of the... more

Very impressive museum in inner city. If you take one of the side entrances it goes fairly quick. PROS: - The pyramid is amazing from the inside - Mona Lisa (It was easy to get close to her and take a photo; but sometimes I have heard the guards are very strict.) - The inverted pyramid (absolutely cool at close... more

I went on the first Sunday of August 2008 when the Museum was free as it is on every first Sunday of the month. The queue outside the Pyramid was very long so I went to 99 Rue de Rivoli (a building with red banners outside) which is 3 minutes walk from Palais Royal-Musee du Louvre (metro lines 1 and... more

We printed the stroller/wheelchair accessible tour from the Louvre's website. It takes you through all the museums most popular masterpieces using the elevators. It worked very well for us. Going to a museum with 2 young children is always a gamble, but following the tour we were able to take a very large double stroller all through the museum- and... more

We loved the Louvre. It opened at 9.00am and we were there at ten to nine. By then there was already about a 100m queue, but we expected that. They opened the doors at exactly 9am and within a couple of minutes we were in! We headed straight for the Mona Lisa, before the crowds arrived. Then we strolled around... more

Louvre is probably the most important and famous museum on Earth. It's so big that I recommend everybody to spend 3 hours there in two different days, because if you're really a big fan of art, and won't stay long in Paris, you're gonna spend a whole afternoon in the museum to see everything in just one day. Delacroix's paintings... more

Took the 3:45 English speaking tour on a Wednesday, when the Louvre is open late. The museum was very crowded all day, but when the tour reached the Mona Lisa at around 5PM ,we walked right to the front of the line in less than 3 minutes. Even the tour guide was surprised how ez that was. She then gave... more

I am not an art lover, but I have to say I did enjoy the Louvre. Before you go inside, drink all drinks because they will take them from you and bring a smaller type of bag, just in case the staff thinks its too big and then you have to put it in a room that is unattended. I... more

If you are pressed for time, take a tour. But if you have dedicated an entire day to checking out the Louvre, grab a map and walk. There are so many appealing pieces of art and sculpture, even something "non-famous" will capture your attention (I personally liked the Greek and Roman myth paintings scattered throughout the museum from different time... more
